The Iowa Clinic Expands Specialty Care With New Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Services

The Iowa Clinic is expanding access to specialized surgical care with the launch of its new Oculofacial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery specialty on July 1, 2026. The specialty will be led by board-certified oculofacial plastic surgeons Audrey Ko, MD, and Douglas R. Casady, MD.

Oculofacial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery is a highly specialized field focused on conditions affecting the eyelids, tear ducts, eye socket (orbit), and surrounding facial structures. The specialty combines reconstructive and cosmetic surgical techniques to restore function, improve comfort, and enhance appearance for patients experiencing a wide range of conditions.

Patients may benefit from oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery for conditions including drooping eyelids, tearing disorders, orbital conditions, skin cancers affecting the eyelids and surrounding tissues, facial trauma, and other reconstructive needs. The specialty also offers cosmetic procedures designed to rejuvenate the appearance of the eyes and face.

"Adding Oculofacial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery allows us to provide patients with access to highly specialized care close to home," said Ben Vallier, CEO of The Iowa Clinic. "Dr. Ko and Dr. Casady bring extensive expertise and a strong reputation for delivering exceptional patient care. Their addition further strengthens our ability to offer comprehensive, coordinated specialty care throughout Central Iowa."

The addition of Dr. Ko and Dr. Casady enhances The Iowa Clinic's multidisciplinary approach to patient care, allowing for close coordination among ophthalmology, dermatology, plastic surgery, ENT, cancer care, and other specialties when appropriate. By bringing this specialty to The Iowa Clinic, patients can access advanced reconstructive and cosmetic care while benefiting from coordinated treatment plans across multiple specialties when needed.

The new specialty will initially be located at The Iowa Clinic's South Waukee campus. Later this fall, Oculofacial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and Plastic Surgery will relocate to their permanent home within The Iowa Clinic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Center on Jordan Creek Parkway. The dedicated center will provide a specialized environment for consultations, treatment planning, and follow-up care, while surgical procedures will be performed at The Iowa Clinic's Waukee Surgery Center.

Dr. Ko and Dr. Casady will begin seeing new and existing patients at The Iowa Clinic beginning on July 1, 2026.
