The Regional Medical Clinic Aspen Center is pleased to welcome Ebima Okundaye, MD, to their Nephrology Department. Dr. Okudaye earned his medical degree in Nigeria and went on to completed his Fellowship in Nephrology and Hypertension in Queens, New York.

Avera Queen of Peace is opening a new pediatric therapy facility in Mitchell. At the Avera Therapy and Integrated Therapy Services center, therapists use a collaborative team approach to help children function independently. Before the center was built at the former urgent care facility, children were having to go out of town for care in Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapy.

The National Rural Health Association (NHRA) gave Avera Weskota Memorial Hospital the designation as a Top 20 Best Practices in Patient Satisfaction. All the honored facilities will be recognized at the Critical Access Conference on September 23 in Kansas City.

North Central Heart, a Division of Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, has announced the area’s first fellowship-trained cardiologist for cardiac MRI. Elden Rand, MD, a cardiologist at North Central Heart, received his fellowship training at Duke University, and has seen early success in detecting abnormalities through cardiac MRI. Until now, the closest healthcare system with cardiac MRI capabilities was in Omaha.

Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell has been named among the Top 100 Rural and Community Hospitals by iVantage Health Analytics. This is the first year that iVantage has named the Top 100 Rural and Community Hospitals in addition to its annual recognition of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals. Avera Queen of Peace also holds iVantage Health Analytics top quartile awards including Excellence in Quality and Excellence in Financial Strength.
