Steve Schieber, MBA, FACMPE, FACHE, has been appointed as the new president of CHI Health Good Samaritan, having served in an interim capacity since January. In this new dual leadership role, he will also continue to serve as president of CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island.

“I feel incredibly fortunate to serve two of the state’s premier hospitals. Each institution possesses a rich culture, a deep-rooted history in their respective communities and an exceptional team of dedicated professionals. I’m eager to get to know Kearney even better and hit the ground running,” says Steve Schieber, president, Good Samaritan and St. Francis.

Schieber will lead Good Samaritan’s executive team alongside Kimber Bonner, vice president of patient care services; Dr. Lissa Woodruff, vice president of medical operations; and Lisa Webb, vice president of operational finance. For additional support, a vice president of operations position is also being introduced.

“Steve brings a collaborative spirit that encourages everyone to share ideas and support one another. His commitment to our staff and the Kearney community has been evident in every decision he’s made during his interim assignment. I’m incredibly proud to work alongside him as we move forward creating healthier communities,” says Kimber Bonner, vice president, patient care.

Schieber graduated with honors from Northwest Missouri State University with a Master’s of Business Administration. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American College of Medical Practice Executives and the former president of the Missouri Hospital Association (North District). In addition, Schieber serves on several community boards and participates in local service organizations.

Schieber joined St. Francis in May 2024 and the hospital has since received several prestigious accolades, including ANCC’s Magnet with Distinction, The Leapfrog Group’s “A” Hospital Safety Grade and Healthgrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award. Good Samaritan, during Schieber’s tenure, was also recognized as one of America’s 250 Best Hospitals by Healthgrades, secured an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group and earned the ENA Lantern Award.
