What specialty(ies) are you currently considering and why? I will be applying for a dermatology residency this fall. I chose dermatology because of the meaningful, longitudinal relationships and ability to care for individuals in all stages of life. My passion for this specialty has also been shaped significantly by dermatology mentors in my hometown of Rapid City, South Dakota.

Why I’m a member of the SDSMA: SDSMA has provided financial support to me and many other students pursuing medicine, helping to ease the financial burden of higher education. Additionally, South Dakota Medicine is a valuable platform for sharing research and scholarly work. I am specifically grateful for the annual Humanities Supplement, in which I was able to highlight my younger sister's story, and reflect on the experiences that led me to a career in medicine.
