Sanford Health Expands Pediatric and General Surgery Outreach to Dickinson

Sanford Health is now offering both pediatric and adult general surgery outreach services in Dickinson, expanding access to specialized care for patients in the region.

Keaton Joppru, M.D., is a board-certified general surgeon providing care to adult and pediatric patients. He treats a wide range of conditions and performs a variety of procedures including general adult surgery, pediatric surgery, endoscopy procedures, hernia surgery, robotic and laparoscopic surgery, cancer procedures and more.

“I grew up in a small town of fewer than 8,000 people, and when I was 14, a local general surgeon removed my appendix. Being able to stay close to home allowed my parents to keep working, which meant a great deal to our blue‑collar family, said Dr. Joppru. “That experience shaped me. Providing advanced surgical care in rural communities has been a passion of mine ever since. I even spent my first two years of medical school at the University of Minnesota’s Duluth campus, which is dedicated to training students for rural medicine.”

Dr. Joppru will travel to the Sanford Dickinson West Clinic the fourth Tuesday of each month to provide endoscopy services, outpatient surgeries, clinic procedures and consultations to patients in rural areas.

“We’re excited to welcome Dr. Joppru to Dickinson,” said Jackie Farland, vice president of operations for Sanford Bismarck. “Expanding both pediatric and adult surgical services in this region allows Dr. Joppru to provide patients with advanced care options right here close to home.”

Dr. Joppru is located within the Sanford Bismarck Medical Center. To schedule a consultation appointment, call 701-456-6005. To learn more, visit sanfordhealth.org.

Dr. Joppru attended medical school at University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis and is board certified by the American Board of Surgery as a general surgeon.

The Sanford Health Bismarck Region provides health care to central and western North Dakota, eastern Montana and northern South Dakota. It includes 26 clinics in Bismarck, Mandan, Minot, Dickinson, Williston and Watford City, as well as a Level II trauma center located in Bismarck.
