Sanford Health Names Brad Schipper President Of Operations For Virtual Care Initiative

Sanford Health announced today it has named Brad Schipper president of operations for Sanford’s virtual care initiative.

Schipper has more than 25 years of experience in health care administration and operations including previously serving as Sanford Health's vice president of operations in Sioux Falls. He most recently served as executive vice president of health care operations for SRP Environmental and as president and CEO of Proven Healthcare Consulting & Services, LLC.

“Brad is a proven leader and has expertise in operations and performance with always keeping his sights on what is best for the patient,” said Michael LeBeau, M.D., system vice president of health service operations for Sanford Health. “I look forward to working with Brad on this transformative initiative for the system and for the patients, residents and communities we serve.”

Sanford Health announced its landmark $350 million virtual care initiative in 2021 to transform health care for rural and underserved communities across the Midwest by significantly improving access to convenient, high-quality health care and ensuring that patients benefit from world-class care, no matter where they live or the health challenges they face. Virtual care serves a significant need and purpose as Sanford Health delivers care across 250,000 miles with sixty percent of patients living in rural areas.

“The virtual care initiative will bring modern health care to the rural communities we serve and break down barriers to ensure that specialty care is available to all patients and residents,” said Schipper. “The impact will be felt in every corner of our footprint and allow us to provide the right care at the right time at the right place.”

Schipper received his Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota, is a LEAN Six Sigma facilitator and is president of the board of Eastern South Dakota Red Cross.

The groundbreaking of a flagship center for virtual care, the Sanford Virtual Care Center, will take place this summer near the grounds of the Sanford Sports Complex in Sioux Falls. The state-of-the-art building will serve people from across Sanford Health’s network of hospitals and clinics as well as house innovation, education and research initiatives to advance digital health care solutions for the future.
