David Newman, M.D.

David Newman, M.D., vice president and chief medical officer for virtual care at Sanford Health, will join a panel discussion at the American Hospital Association Leadership Summit in Nashville on July 20-22 focused on how hospitals are using AI to reshape clinical workflows, improve decision-making and enhance the patient and clinician experience.

The American Hospital Association Leadership Summit brings together senior health care executives, clinicians and experts in the field presenting innovative approaches for delivering better care and greater value, ensuring financial stability, addressing workforce challenges and improving the health care consumer experience through operational excellence, creative partnerships and redefined delivery models.

Newman’s panel is entitled, Cutting-edge AI Transforming the Patient and Clinician Experience and will be moderated by Chris DeRienzo, M.D., senior vice president & chief physician executive at the American Hospital Association. Panelists will share real-world applications of AI in diagnostics, risk assessment and workflow optimization. Attendees will gain insights into key considerations for AI adoption, including design, governance and implementation strategies that drive quality outcomes and cost efficiencies.

“I am excited to join this panel at the AHA Leadership Summit to share how Sanford Health is innovating with purpose,” said Newman. “By using AI-enabled technology, we’re boosting clinician satisfaction and enhancing the patient experience. I look forward to sharing lessons from our journey — especially the importance of building trust with both patients and care teams. At the end of the day, health care must lead the way in how technology is designed and deployed.”

A practicing endocrinologist and informaticist based in Fargo, North Dakota, Newman is passionate about health care disparities, especially zip code-based disparities.
