Sanford Fargo DermatologyHosts Skin Screening May 2, Melanoma Monday

Sanford Health Fargo Dermatology & Laser Clinic, 4656 40th Ave. S. will host a free skin screening event for the community on Monday, May 2, from 2:30 to 7 p.m. The event will be held on Melanoma Monday, designated by the American Academy of Dermatology annually on the first Monday in May, as part of an awareness campaign during National Skin Cancer Awareness Month.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. The two most common types of skin cancer, basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas, are highly curable, but can be disfiguring and costly to treat. Melanoma, the third most common skin cancer, is more dangerous and results in more deaths, but highly treatable if caught early.

Prevention is important, but early detection is important to catching and treating skin cancer early.  Schedule a skin check at Sanford Health Dermatology & Laser Clinic by calling (701) 234-8924.
