Registration Now Open for the 28th Annual Hospital Hill Race
Prairie Lakes Healthcare System (PLHS) is inviting local families to the 28th Annual Hospital Hill Run on Saturday, June 7th, 2025. The Hospital Hill Run was created nearly three decades ago by a handful of local healthcare providers to promote the importance of exercise in a fun and family-friendly way.
Dr. Dan Reiffenberger, PLHS Chief Medical Officer, played an integral role in creating the event. He shared, “The Hospital Hill Run was initially started as a way of getting people out and becoming more active. We wanted it to be a family event, so that is why kids 12 and younger were free. The “Hill” is the great equalizer—everybody must work up that hill, whether they run or walk.”
There is an event for anybody, no matter their current fitness level. Events include a 5k timed run, 5k walk, or a 1-mile walk. Registration is $20 through June 1st, then will increase to $25. All local healthcare employees can register for only $15. Children 12 and under are free. Participants will receive an athletic running shirt included in their race packet.
Proceeds from the Hospital Hill Run will benefit the Prairie Lakes Caring Club House which serves as a home away from home for out-of-town patients, their families, and caregivers receiving care at Prairie Lakes Healthcare System. Located conveniently next to the hospital, the facility offers private guest rooms, a spacious kitchen, free laundry facilities, wireless internet, televisions, a children’s playroom, and handicap-accessible features including a specially equipped bedroom and bathroom. Guests also benefit from the support of an on-site caretaker during their stay.
Event check-in will be held from 7:00 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 7th in front of the Caring Club House. The race will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. with refreshments, entertainment, and an award ceremony immediately following the race finish near the top of St. Anne’s Hill.
