Regional West Physicians Clinic Launches Quit Nicotine Now Program
Regional West Physicians Clinic is pleased to announce the Quit Nicotine Now Program – designed to help adult patients, 19 years of age and older, safely stop nicotine. The goal is to provide counseling, tools, and resources to help patients kick the nicotine habit for good.
Abbie Fulk, APRN, a nurse practitioner with Regional West Physicians Clinic-Pulmonology, Critical Care, oversees Regional West’s Quit Nicotine Now Program. She has advanced training in the nicotine cessation process, and is an excellent resource for those who have made the decision to quit using nicotine, or have tried in the past to quit, only to relapse later. It is covered by most private insurance, as well as by Medicaid and Medicare.
The program includes four patient visits a year, and a referral to the Nebraska Quit Line, which provides free, 24/7 access to counseling and support services during the process. In addition to personalized counseling and education, Abbie works with each patient to identify and prescribe aides designed to help curb nicotine cravings and eliminate the use of nicotine as part of daily life, including replacement options and/or medication.
Patients do not see their primary care provider during smoking cessation visits, but medication changes, etc. will be posted in their medical record.
