Rally Against Cancer Raises Record $607,000 for John Stoddard Cancer Center

The 26th Annual Rally Against Cancer, presented by GreenState Credit Union, raised a  record-breaking $607,000 in support of UnityPoint Health – John Stoddard Cancer Center, surpassing its  fundraising goal and setting a new milestone for the event.

More than 580 community members gathered to support cancer care in Central Iowa, demonstrating the  community's commitment to ensuring patients have access to exceptional care close to home.

The evening featured patient stories, celebrations of cancer survivorship and an inspiring presentation from  legendary broadcaster and cancer advocate Dick Vitale. A 5-time cancer survivor himself, Vitale shared his  personal journey and message of hope, resilience and perseverance with attendees.

Funds raised through Rally Against Cancer support programs and services that enhance the patient experience,  including navigation, wellness services, counseling, survivorship resources and other initiatives that help  individuals navigate cancer treatment and recovery.

"This record-breaking result reflects the extraordinary generosity of our community and the deep commitment  people have to supporting cancer care close to home," said Erica Axiotis, President of UnityPoint Health  Foundation. "Every gift made through Rally Against Cancer helps ensure patients have access to support,  resources and innovative programs that can make a meaningful difference during one of the most challenging  times in their lives."

Sarah Zeidler, Executive Director of John Stoddard Cancer Center, said the event's success demonstrates the  community's confidence in the cancer center's mission and future.

"At Stoddard Cancer Center, we are committed to providing exceptional, comprehensive cancer care that  addresses the needs of the whole person," Zeidler said. "The support generated through Rally Against Cancer  allows us to continue expanding programs and services that improve access, enhance the patient experience  and ensure individuals throughout Central Iowa receive outstanding care close to home."

Since its inception, Rally Against Cancer has raised $8.3 million to advance cancer care and support services  for individuals and families throughout Iowa.
