Public Memorial to Commemorate Pregnancy Loss and Infant Death Month
Columbus Community Hospital will host the Precious H.E.A.R.T.S. (Healing, Embracing and Remembering Through Sharing) interfaith memorial service at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, at Roselawn Cemetery, near 23rd Street and 3rd Avenue in Columbus.
This annual memorial service occurs each October, coinciding with National Pregnancy Loss and Infant Death Month. Individuals who have experienced pregnancy loss can attend with their family and friends.
Cori Fullner, executive director of the Columbus Community Hospital Foundation, said the Precious H.E.A.R.T.S. program was started to support those who have lost a baby prior to 20 weeks’ gestation.
“We provide an annual ceremony for those families to console, grieve and share this difficult time surrounded by others who have experienced the same loss,” Fullner said. “By having a beautiful statue and bench at our gravesite plot, loved ones have a place they can come and visit anytime.”
The nondenominational, bilingual service will be near the Precious H.E.A.R.T.S. stone on the northeast side of the cemetery, directly west of Maximus Restaurant. It will last approximately one hour. A member of the Columbus clergy will lead the service.
Attendees should bring lawn chairs. In case of bad weather, please check Columbus Community Hospital’s Facebook page, visit columbushosp.org or call the hospital’s maternal child health department at 402-562-3266 to learn about alternative plans or cancellations.
