Prostate Cancer Awareness Motorcycle Ride Set to Roll at Legendary Sturgis Rally
Motorcycle enthusiasts from South Dakota and beyond are invited to participate in Chrome for a Cause, a free charity ride taking place at the 85th Sturgis Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota. This one-day ride, hosted by Pittsburgh-based non-profit Customs Kicking Cancer, aims to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer research and early detection.
“As someone whose father was diagnosed with prostate cancer at the young age of 56, I know firsthand that regular and early screening of prostate cancer is easy, minimally invasive, and allows for a much greater chance of a regular healthy life after this disease,” said Dan Lucas Jr., founder and president of Customs Kicking Cancer. “It is my dream that men can start having honest, open and public discussions, and allow the stigma and vulnerability of prostate cancer to be a motivator to educate others.”
Chrome for a Cause will kick off in the Black Hills with a social event on August 5 , which will feature craft cocktails, curated bites, a silent auction, and a showcase of one-of-a-kind custom bikes. The charity ride will follow on August 6, starting and finishing at the iconic Iron Horse Saloon. Riders will traverse the scenic Black Hills, united in their mission to support men's health initiatives.
Proceeds from event sponsors, rider donations, and funds from the silent auction will benefit Customs Kicking Cancer's efforts to promote open dialogue about men's health and support prostate cancer research. Every participant will be entered to win either a custom Honda Grom motorcycle or a Louis Vuitton belt bag.
