Precious H.E.A.R.T.S. Program to Host Annual Memorial Service
Remembrance can be an important step in the healing process for families who have experienced the heartbreak of pregnancy loss. The Columbus Community Hospital Foundation invites community members to honor and remember those lives through the Precious H.E.A.R.T.S. interfaith memorial service.
The event will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11, at Roselawn Cemetery, near the Precious H.E.A.R.T.S. memorial angel monument. The cemetery is located on the east side of Columbus on 23rd Street, directly west of Maximus Restaurant. We ask attendees to bring their own lawn chairs for the outdoor service.
The Columbus Community Hospital Foundation and Auxiliary created the Precious H.E.A.R.T.S. (Healing, Embracing and Remembering Through Sharing) program to recognize the unique grief associated with pregnancy loss, both recent and long past. The program offers families a space not only to grieve, but also to celebrate the lives that briefly touched their own.
"We hope this event can provide comfort and solace," said Cori Fullner, executive director of the Columbus Community Hospital Foundation. "As difficult as it is for these families who have suffered loss, when they are surrounded with others who are experiencing the same pain they know they are not alone."
Kimberly Eisenmann, RN, BSN, C-ONQS, the hospital's maternal child health department director, says the service provides a special opportunity for families and friends to gather in a peaceful, compassionate setting.
"It is an honor to remember the babies who have touched our lives, no matter how brief their time with us," Eisenmann said.
A member of the Columbus clergy will conduct this nondenominational, bilingual service. It will last approximately one hour and include messages of hope, spiritual reflection and moments of remembrance.
