Prairie Lakes Healthcare System (PLHS), a division of Sanford Health, has once again earned a place on Newsweek’s America’s Best-In-State Hospitals list for 2026. The annual ranking, developed in partnership with Statista—an internationally respected provider of industry data and rankings—recognizes hospitals that demonstrate exceptional quality, patient outcomes, and a strong reputation among both peers and patients.
Designed to highlight the top-performing hospitals across the country, the 2026 ranking evaluates facilities in all 50 states using a comprehensive methodology. The analysis incorporates four key components:
Quality of care and safety measures

This year, 800 hospitals nationwide achieved scores high enough to be included on the list.
This repeat achievement underscores Prairie Lakes’ strong performance in delivering high-quality care, maintaining a culture of safety, and providing exceptional experiences for patients and families.
