PAC2 Center Transition Goes Well

Management of the PAC2 Center successfully changed hands from the YMCA to Mary Lanning Healthcare this week thanks to the hard work of both organizations.

Eric Barber, MLH President & CEO, thanked the YMCA for working with MLH through the transition, helping things go smoothly for employees, parents and children. He also thanked the PAC2 Center families and staff for their patience during the changeover.

Michelle Hopkins, MLH Director of Human Resources, is overseeing operations along with Kaley Brown, Director of Daycare Services.

“Under the MLH structure, families who currently use PAC2 are welcome to stay,” Barber said. “We did not want to make any changes that would cause hardships.”

As current PAC2 children age out of the center, MLH will fill those spaces, giving priority to applicants who are employed by MLH in order to aid in recruitment and retention of employees, Barber said.

“Keeping great healthcare workers in Hastings is extremely important in helping MLH provide great care,” Barber said. “We want our employees to not only enjoy the work they do at MLH, but have positive experiences with the community and what it has to offer.”

In addition, MLH has worked with Beginnings Early Development Center to create potential for more childcare slots to open up for the community as a whole.

“MLH wants to support the entire community in finding quality daycare in addition to helping

employees feel comfortable knowing that their children are well cared for,” Barber said.

Because of the transition, the Mary Lanning Healthcare Foundation was able to apply for and receive a $770,000 grant that will be used for renovations, program supplies and health and safety equipment.
