Organ Donor Registration Event Scheduled at Mary Lanning Healthcare

A donor registry event at Mary Lanning Healthcare seeks to bring attention to the need for organ and tissue donors.

The MLH Donor Council, along with Live On Nebraska representatives, will be on hand on MLH’s Ground Floor near the Cafeteria from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9. Those who stop by will have the option of online or mail-in donor registration through Live On Nebraska.

According to Live On Nebraska, a new name is added to the waiting list for organs every 10 minutes. Those registering to be organ and tissue donors must be 16 years old and above. Age, health and lifestyle do not limit the ability to register. So far, 800,000 Nebraskans have registered as organ and tissue donors. Yet, the need is still great with more than 110,000 Americans waiting for lifesaving transplant.
