Occupational Health Services Associates Receive Certification
Columbus Community Hospital Occupational Health Services associates Danielle Frewing and Rebecca Burbach were recently certified as medical review officer assistants (MROA) through the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.
As certified MROAs, they can assist the department’s medical review officer in organizing and reporting U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and non-DOT drug screening test results to employees and employers
Frewing and Burbach completed more than 10 hours of online video instruction to receive their certification and passed a post-examination. They now have advanced skills when testing for illegal drugs, alcohol and prescription medication.
When an individual receives certification from the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, they are demonstrating their expertise and high level of achievement.
“Regulatory changes, technical advances in workplace drug testing and current legal issues for regulated and nonregulated workplace drug testing programs are ever-changing,” said Amy Blaser, vice president of business development at the hospital. “Successful completion of the MRO assistant training course re-confirmed our team’s current knowledge and competency relevant to the scientific, legal and policy aspects of drug testing.”
Frewing and Burbach serve as the director and office manager at Occupational Health Services.
