Nurse on Wheels’ Grant Awarded to Horizon Health Elk Point

Horizon Health Elk Point was awarded a $1250 grant for a Spot Monitor or “Nurse on Wheels”.

“We are so grateful for our partnership with Union County Electric Cooperative and the Operation Round Up committee for this grant,” Horizon Health Foundation Executive Director Tracy Pardy said. “The support helps us move our mission forward to provide quality care for our patients. Thank you.”

The addition of a Spot Monitor will let Elk Point clinical staff spot-check a patient’s respiration rate providing them up-to-the-minute readings that are accurate and connected. This will reduce transcription errors and help detect signs of deterioration in the patient’s well-being.

“Having a local medical clinic is vital to the health and well-being of residents in Elk Point and the surrounding area,” said Matt Klein, General Manager of the Union County Electric Cooperative. “The Union County Electric Cooperative Operation Round Up fund is happy to support Horizon Health in continuing to provide exceptional service to our members.”

The Spot Monitor will allow Elk Point and Union County patients to receive exceptional care without having to travel long distances. The grant helps Elk Point clinical staff to fulfill Horizon’s promise of delivering high-quality, affordable primary healthcare services to their patients in Elk Point and the surrounding area.
