Newsweek Recognizes Sanford Bismarck Medical Center as One of the World’s Top Hospitals

Newsweek has named Sanford Health Bismarck Medical Center to its list of World’s Best Hospitals for 2025. A first-time recipient of this award, Sanford Bismarck is the only hospital in North Dakota included on the list.

The Sanford Health Bismarck Medical Center shares inclusion on this year’s list with world-class health care organizations such as Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital.

According to Newsweek, the ranking is based on an extensive evaluation process, including an online survey of thousands of medical experts (doctors, hospital managers and health care professionals), patient experience data, hospital quality metrics and a PROMs Implementation Survey. Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) are defined as standardized, validated questionnaires completed by patients to measure their perception of their functional well-being and quality of life.

The Sanford Bismarck region provides health care to central and western North Dakota, eastern Montana and northern South Dakota. It includes 26 clinics in Bismarck, Mandan, Minot, Dickinson, Williston and Watford City, as well as a Level II trauma center located in Bismarck.
