New UnityPoint Health – Eyerly Ball Building Opens in Des Moines

UnityPoint Health® - Des Moines is proud to announce the opening of the new UnityPoint Health – Eyerly Ball building, a Certified Community  Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) located on Pennsylvania Avenue, directly across from Iowa Lutheran Hospital.

"This new building represents a significant step forward in how we deliver mental health  care—bringing critical services together in one accessible, healing space," says Cynthia  Steidl Bishop, president, UnityPoint Health – Eyerly Ball.

As one of Iowa’s largest mental health providers, Eyerly Ball has delivered outpatient,  residential and community mental health services in central Iowa for over 50 years. With  its proximity to Iowa Lutheran Hospital, the new 15,000-square-foot building brings a full  continuum of mental health services together, improving access and coordination of  care.

The new building also houses the Eyerly Ball – Behavioral Health Access Center  (formerly known as UnityPoint Health – Des Moines Behavioral Health Urgent Care clinic). The Access Center serves as a centralized entry point for individuals at any  stage of their mental health journey—whether in crisis, seeking an urgent or timely  appointment or needing support in connecting to community resources. The Access  Center builds on the Urgent Care’s commitment to same-day access while improving coordination of services across UnityPoint Health – Des Moines.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the generous support that made this project possible.  Together, we’re creating a stronger foundation for mental health care in our community,” says Steidl Bishop.

The $10.4 million project was funded through support from the Polk County Board of  Supervisors, State of Iowa, Prairie Meadows and generous private donors. The One  Place for Care capital campaign has raised more than $1.2 million in private donations  to support the building as well as the expanding mental health programs and services.
