National Recognition for Physician’s Significant Contributions
Dr. Nila Novotny
Columbus Community Hospital is proud to announce that Dr. Nila Novotny, a dedicated and respected specialist in ear, nose and throat care, has received the 2024 Honor Award from the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. This prestigious recognition celebrates her outstanding volunteer service and continuing contributions to the advancement of the field.
The Honor Award is given to academy members who have demonstrated significant involvement over a minimum of five years, earning at least 10 points through various forms of service. These include leadership roles, educational contributions, research, advocacy and participation in the academy’s programs and initiatives. Members can earn a maximum of two points per year, with each point coming from a different service category — ensuring that the award reflects not only commitment, but also breadth and consistency of involvement.
“Dr. Novotny has been a steadfast presence in our medical staff for a number of years,” said Dr. Mark Howerter, Columbus Community Hospital’s chief medical officer. “She is highly professional, highly dedicated to her profession, highly dependable, highly responsible, and really has treated her profession as not just a job, but as a calling.”
Dr. Novotny has been a vital part of the hospital’s medical team. Known for her patient-focused care, clinical expertise and collaborative spirit, she plays a key role in helping CCH deliver high-quality, specialized care in otolaryngology to patients throughout the region.
“Working alongside Dr. Novotny since 2008 has been an incredible privilege,” said Nancy Rinkol, practice manager at Columbus Otolaryngology Clinic. “Her dedication to patient care, professional service and community involvement — including medical mission trips, 4-H, church activities and, most recently, volunteering at the local museum — is truly inspiring. This award is a well-deserved recognition of her leadership and lifelong commitment to medicine and her community."
The Honor Award is a one-time distinction that represents the academy’s deep appreciation for the volunteer efforts of its members. The academy will be sending an Honor Award pin to Dr. Novotny to commemorate the achievement.
Columbus Community Hospital congratulates Dr. Novotny on this well-earned recognition, and thanks her for her continued service to patients and the medical community.
