Mary Lanning Healthcare Stroke Program Earns Reaccreditation

Mary Lanning Healthcare received reaccreditation recently by the Joint Commission as a Certified Primary Stroke Center. The MLH Stroke Program has been accredited since 2011.

MLH, serving patients in central Nebraska and northern Kansas, is one of just 11 Certified Primary Stroke Centers in the state.

Research from the American Stroke Association shows that patients treated at a Certified Primary Stroke Center receive a higher level of care with fewer complications, spending less time in the hospital and rehabilitation.

“Maintaining Primary Stroke Center certification and following the most current guidelines and recommendations demonstrates a continued commitment to our tradition of service, education and community involvement,” said Dave Zechman, Interim CEO.

MLH continues to receive national recognition for the care it provides through the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With the Guidelines program.

The MLH Stroke Team includes neurologists, stroke-trained Emergency Medical Services (EMS) providers, stroke-trained hospitalists, emergency department specialists, stroke-trained registered nurses, physical, occupational and speech therapists, radiology professionals using MRI and high-resolution CT, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation specialists, clinical pharmacists, Nebraska Medicine Telestroke neurologists and social workers.
