Mary Lanning Healthcare Earns Fourth Quality Recognition for Gynecologic Surgical Care
Mary Lanning Healthcare recently received reaccreditation from Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) as a Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology (COEMIG) for the fourth time. The reaccreditation recognizes the hospital’s commitment and high standard of delivery of quality patient care and safety.
Mary Lanning Healthcare is the only medical center in Nebraska to receive this designation.
Status as an accredited Center of Excellence means that MLH has met nationally and internationally recognized standards. Not all hospitals and surgeons seek accreditation; not all that undergo the rigorous inspection process are granted accreditation.
Three surgeons who practice at MLH, Dr. Tyler Adam, Dr. Jill Fish and Dr. Todd Pankratz have been named Master Surgeons through the program, as well. Dr. Adam is the Medical Director of the program.
Donna Munsell, Family Care Center Director at Mary Lanning Healthcare, and Casie Grubbs, MLH Surgical Services Director, agreed that the designation speaks volumes about the staff, along with Drs. Adam, Fish and Pankratz.
“Our staff is committed to providing the best possible experience and outcome for all women undergoing these procedures,” Grubbs said. “Performing gynecologic procedures in the most
minimally invasive, state-of-the-art format allows patients to heal and feel better more quickly than traditional methods.”
Munsell said the COEMIG seal gives patients an assurance of confidence in MLH.
“We are committed to excellence in the area of women’s health,” Munsell said. “This designation demonstrates that to our patients and providers.”
Healthcare facilities and surgeons seeking an SRC accreditation undergo an extensive assessment and inspection process to ensure the applicant meets SRC’s proven standards and requirements. These requirements include surgical volumes, facility equipment, clinical pathways and standardized operating procedures, an emphasis on patient education and continuous quality assessment. Inspectors educate staff in the accredited departments on best practices to help an organization improve its care and services.
