Mary Lanning Healthcare Provider Earns State Recognition

Jayne Nelson, Inpatient Wound & Ostomy Provider at Mary Lanning Healthcare, was recently honored by the Nebraska Nurse Practitioners organization.

Nelson, DNP APRN-NP FNP-C CWON-AP CFCN, received the Nebraska Nurse Practitioner Clinician of the Year Award at the organization’s annual conference in February.

Nelson was nominated for the award which is given for demonstrating excellence in practice and serving as a role model for other providers. Nelson, who is an active NNP member, also was recognized for improving care for her patients and using current research in her practice.

MLH is one of the few hospitals in Nebraska to have a full-time inpatient wound care provider, rather than only a wound care nurse. Nelson also helps at the MLH Wound Center for outpatient wound healing.

“I am proud to provide inpatient care when patients need it most,” Nelson said. “I love being able to help wounds heal so patients can focus on their other concerns.”

Alexandria Donahey, RN, MLH Director of Inpatient & Outpatient Wound Care, said she is proud of Nelson for this achievement and for providing excellent care to wound patients.

“Jayne is a great example of the caring providers here at MLH,” Donahey said. “Her unique skills mean patients can get on the road toward healing much faster. Her work has helped many of our patients.”
