Mary Lanning Healthcare Names New Chief Medical Officer

A physician who has served the Hastings community for 14 years has been named the  new Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Mary Lanning Healthcare. 

Dr. Zachary Frey will continue seeing patients at Hastings Family Care (HFC) in addition to fulfilling  CMO duties beginning April 1. Patients can continue to call HFC at 402-463-2929 if they need an  appointment with Dr. Frey. 

The CMO position has been open since late 2025. 

As CMO, Dr. Frey will serve as a liaison between the medical staff and MLH while serving as an active  member of the team. He will work to make sure MLH provides the most effective, high-quality  medical care possible. 

“Mary Lanning has an excellent medical staff that I have been fortunate to work alongside for the  last 14 years,” Dr. Frey said. “I’m excited and honored to serve in this role to support them in  continuing to provide great care to our patients and communities.” 

Dave Zechman, Interim CEO, said he is pleased that Dr. Frey has accepted the position. 

“It is wonderful to have someone who knows MLH so well take on this important job,” Zechman said.  “We are happy to be working with a respected physician who is invested in our community and  MLH.”
