MercyOne Genesis Pediatric Therapy Children Launch Bix Festivities with Their Own Arconic Jr. Bix
The children who receive care at MercyOne Genesis Bettendorf Pediatric Therapy (GOPEDS) will once again run their version of the Arconic Jr. Bix in the clinic’s parking lot on Wednesday, July 16, at 5 p.m.
The children participating in the race are special needs clients of GOPEDS. They might have mobility challenges due to injury, autism, cerebral palsy or other conditions. The event offers an excellent opportunity for a positive story in the days leading up to the Quad-City Times Bix 7. Kids will receive official Jr. Bix medals and T-shirts. The Running Wild Elite Team members will also be there to support and cheer for the kids. Additionally, during the sensory-friendly race, people will cheer by blowing bubbles.
“It makes me happy to see children running their own race, in their own way, supported in an environment that suits them best. The MercyOne Genesis Go Peds Virtual Race for the Arconic Jr Bix is a wonderful extension of what the Quad-City Times Bix 7 stands for: movement, community and bringing family and friends together. We’re proud to partner with MercyOne Genesis for the third year to offer this meaningful opportunity for children and families with special needs to take part in the Bix tradition,” said Michelle Juehring, Race Director, Quad City Times Bix 7.
