Meet Adaileen: A Brave Girl’s Wish for Disney Magic
Wish Story: Meet Adaileen
Six-year-old Adaileen is a joyful and empathetic child who loves biking, swimming, jumping on her trampoline, and caring for her younger sister, Haevyn. Shortly after her birth, her parents, Mike and Paige, noticed something unusual and soon discovered that she had suffered a stroke affecting a significant part of her brain. At two, Adaileen began having seizures, leading doctors to diagnose her with a right-sided MCA stroke, hemiplegia, and drug-resistant epilepsy. Surgery was recommended to prevent further life threatening seizures.
Over the years, Adaileen underwent seven surgeries, countless trips to the Cleveland Clinic, and intensive physical therapy. Through these challenges, her family introduced her to Make-A-Wish, and with the help of her doctors, they connected with Make-A-Wish South Dakota & Montana. Adaileen's love for Disney sparked her wish to visit Disney World with her family. The entire trip was full of magic, from a pink limo ride to the airport to Adaileen making announcements from the airplane cockpit.
At Disney World, Adaileen met all her favorite Disney characters, from Donald and Daisy Duck to the Disney princesses. She was even transformed into a princess in front of Cinderella’s castle. The family also visited Animal Kingdom, where Adaileen was enchanted by the animals, especially her favorite, the red panda. Disney staff ensured Adaileen had a magical experience, including skipping long lines to meet her favorite characters.
The family stayed at Give Kids the World, a special resort for wish families. The resort provided a carousel, rides, special visitors, and even ice cream available anytime. Mike fondly remembers the hundreds of photos he took during the trip, capturing Adaileen’s constant smiles and happiness. After so many obstacles, seeing Adaileen have the time of her life was deeply rewarding for her family.
Today, Mike and Paige are dedicated to raising money for Make-A-Wish South Dakota & Montana. They hope to give more families the opportunity to experience the life-changing magic that Make-A-Wish provided for Adaileen.
