Macy Reichmuth Honored With Service Over Self Award

Columbus Community Hospital is proud to recognize Macy Reichmuth, RN, BSN, as its fourth-quarter Service Over Self Award recipient.

Reichmuth works as a service line coordinator in the outpatient surgical department at the hospital. She was nominated by Kayla Gehring, director and life support instructor in the operating room, for her exceptional volunteer efforts and dedication to serving her hometown of Leigh and its youth.

Outside the hospital, Reichmuth gives her time to numerous community organizations. She serves on the Leigh Rescue Squad and regularly participates in community events such as the Leigh Parade. She teaches Sunday School and holds a leadership role as a chair member of the Leigh Community Club, helping guide initiatives that strengthen community connections.

Reichmuth actively supports local youth through creative fundraising efforts — she hand-makes bows that dance and cheer teams sell to raise funds for their programs. She recently organized her first community event, “Mommy and Me,” which brought together local vendors to support small businesses while offering families a welcoming, community-centered experience. At her children’s school, she volunteers for holiday parties and chaperones field trips, earning trust through her consistency and compassion.

Gehring highlighted Reichmuth’s quiet dedication in her nomination. “Macy gives generously of her time without seeking recognition,” Gehring wrote. “Her dedication to her community and support of local youth reflects the true meaning of service over self.”

Columbus Community Hospital presented the Service Over Self Award to Reichmuth on Jan. 29 in the outpatient surgical department. Colleagues gathered to recognize her service and commitment.

The Service Over Self Award is open to all CCH staff. To submit your nomination, send your nominee’s volunteer story to bridges@columbushosp.org. This award is brought to CCH through the Pathway to Excellence® program, which recognizes hospitals that create a positive working environment for nurses.
