Lakes Regional Healthcare Begins Transition to New Electronic Health Record Platform
Lakes Regional Healthcare (LRH) will transition to Epic, a new electronic health record (EHR) system, on May 30 as part of the organization’s continued commitment to improving patient care, safety and communication across the healthcare system.
Epic is an advanced electronic health record platform designed to streamline workflows, improve coordination among healthcare providers and provide more efficient access to patient information. The system will allow physicians, nurses and care teams to access the same real-time information, helping improve continuity of care and the overall patient experience.
LRH President and CEO Jason Harrington said the transition is an important investment in the future of healthcare delivery at LRH. “Implementing Epic represents a significant step forward for Lakes Regional Healthcare,” he said. “This technology will strengthen communication across our organization, improve efficiency for our staff and providers, and support a more connected experience for our patients.”
The Epic platform will allow healthcare teams to more efficiently review medications, allergies, test results and care plans while helping reduce duplicate services and delays in communication. Physicians will also continue to securely access patient information electronically, allowing care to be delivered more efficiently regardless of location. In addition, the new platform will provide a much more efficient patient-portal for patients to access their own medical information and take greater control of their care. The platform provides a provider-portal that can easily be accessed by a remote provider if you are traveling or perhaps only live in the lakes area for part of the year.
Patients may notice staff spending additional time working within the new system during the initial transition period as employees adapt to the updated technology. LRH staff and providers have completed extensive planning and training in preparation for the system’s implementation.
“Healthcare technology continues to evolve, and Epic helps position LRH for a strong future,” Harrington said. “Our focus remains on providing high-quality, coordinated care while continuing to meet the needs of the communities we serve.”
