Kids Safety Day Teaches Children and Teens Essential Life Skills

Columbus Community Hospital and Mike's Auto Sales and Towing invite you to learn safety tips from local experts at this year's Kids Safety Day. The event will be from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, at Mike's Auto Sales and Towing, 1858 33rd Ave. in Columbus.

Kids Safety Day includes demonstrations and displays that allow children and teens to learn about fire, seat belt and power line safety, among other important topics. There will be certified car seat technicians on-site to conduct free car seat checks on a first-come, first-served basis. Kids in attendance also will receive a free lunch from Runza restaurant and can enter for a chance to win a free bicycle.

“This event is a very good way for kids to learn about safety of all kinds and have fun at the same time,” said Mike Fleming, owner of Mike’s Auto Sales and Towing. “This year, it’s really special because we are having a drawing and two children will win a new bike.”

Local public safety organizations will be at the event, including state and local law enforcement, Columbus Fire and Rescue and Loup Power District. Columbus Community Hospital also will have health professionals on-site to teach children health safety tips.
