Sanford Health Network 4th Quarter DAISY award Recipient Karen Terhark, RN Worthington Medical Center

On October 19th 2022 my husband and I were induced to deliver our still born daughter. Karen was the nurse on duty when our daughter made her arrival. Not only did Karen hug me and cry for/with us, but she took EXCELLENT care of our baby.

She was kind, patient, caring, delicate, and sympathetic. She took care to dress our baby girl and wrap her in a blanket before bringing her to us, she minded our alone time while simultaneously checking on my health through our stay, and took the time and effort to get keepsakes of her hand and footprints so we would have something to remember her with.

She didn't rush us, but encouraged us to do what we felt was right for our family, and when it was time for us to say goodbye, she carefully rewrapped our daughter in another blanket so we could save the first as a keepsake. She was a wonderful nurse, but the most important part was how well and respectfully she took care of our daughter. It made a horrific day just a tiny bit easier.
