Juanita Mireles-Pittman Wins Sheaf Of Wheat Award

Juanita Mireles-Pittman

Columbus Community Hospital recently presented Juanita “Pie” Mireles-Pittman with the Sheaf of Wheat Award for hospital employees who make lasting impressions on patients or their families.

Mireles-Pittman is a certified nursing assistant (CNA) in the hospital’s senior behavioral health unit. A coworker nominated her for the award, noting that “the team can always count on her because she is always ready for any task, large or small, without any complaints.”

In the nomination letter, Mireles-Pittman’s coworker praised her for going above and beyond to ensure her patients feel special.

“Pie has brought in her supply of beauty items to make our patients feel special when they need some extra pampering,” she said. “She had family members bring in a pair of clippers to give a haircut to a patient who had a lengthy stay, and I’ve seen her do countless ladies' hair and fingernails in her downtime. You should see the smile this puts on their faces. She is so kind to the patients, and her work is top-notch.”

Hospital representatives presented Mireles-Pittman with a certificate of recognition and a Sheaf of Wheat plaque on Friday, March 15.

To nominate a hospital employee for a Sheaf of Wheat Award, you can complete a pamphlet and return it to any Sheaf of Wheat nomination box. Boxes are located throughout the hospital and at coordinating hospital sites. You can submit online nominations at columbushosp.org.
