Iowa Methodist Medical Center Campus Opens New Outpatient Pharmacy

UnityPoint Health – Des Moines is pleased to announce the opening of a new  outpatient pharmacy located on the Iowa Methodist Medical Center Campus in the Plaza Atrium at  1212 Pleasant St. Suite 109, Des Moines. UnityPoint Health – Methodist Atrium Pharmacy offers convenient access to prescription services in the heart of Des Moines.

The new pharmacy is open to everyone – no existing relationship with UnityPoint Health is required to  use the services. The location is convenient for anyone with an appointment, visiting someone in the  hospital or local to downtown.

The pharmacy will soon be operating as a Milk Depot, partnering with Mother’s Milk Bank of Iowa.  This partnership will allow approved local breast milk donors to drop off life-saving milk to the  pharmacy. The milk is then safely transported to the milk bank for pasteurization and then will come  back to the pharmacy frozen for distribution to infants in need.

“The Methodist Atrium Pharmacy is a convenient, additional resource for patients after their clinic  appointments as well as for the downtown community,” said Brian Benson, RPh, Pharm.D, FASHP,  UnityPoint Health – Des Moines executive director of pharmacy. “This will also enable us to serve  additional patients with our Meds to Beds program, bringing prescription medication to the hospital  patient’s bedside at discharge.”

The pharmacy also offers:

  • A full range of prescription and over-the-counter medications and personal hygiene items, with  special ordering options available

  • Personalized medication counseling from knowledgeable pharmacists

  • Easy prescription transfers from your current pharmacy

  • Convenient service after appointments at the UnityPoint Health Medical Plaza and Iowa  Methodist Hospital
