Healthcare leaders throughout Iowa will have the opportunity to gain valuable insights, tools, and connections at the upcoming Iowa Healthcare Leaders Association (IHLA) Spring Conference. Scheduled for April 24-25, 2025, at the Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel in downtown Des Moines, the conference aims to equip healthcare professionals with resources to navigate the challenges of modern medical practice administration.

The two-day event, running from Thursday through Friday lunchtime, offers a comprehensive program designed to provide current tools and networking opportunities in a professional yet engaging environment. The conference specifically targets healthcare leaders who oversee ambulatory care settings, with a focus on maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Jermaine Davis
Highlighting the event is keynote speaker Dr. Jermaine Davis, an award-winning professor, author of 10 books, and Hall of Fame speaker known for his dynamic "EDUTAINMENT" style that blends education with entertainment.
Dr. Davis brings impressive credentials, including a doctorate in Organizational Leadership and extensive corporate experience with companies like IBM and Frito-Lay. His expertise has been sought by organizations ranging from the Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic to Microsoft and the FBI.
His opening session on Thursday, "Leading the Way of Positive Change in Times of Uncertainty," will provide healthcare leaders with tools to navigate change, foster resilience, and build a culture of cooperation. On Friday, Dr. Davis will present "Thrive! Building a Recognition-Rich Culture with the R.A.P. Philosophy," focusing on transforming workplace stress into team collaboration and engagement.
Featured Speaker: Lauren Harris
Healthcare consultant Lauren Harris, who has assisted over 100 clients nationwide since establishing her practice in 2020, will lead three sessions during the conference. With more than 25 years of leadership and operational experience, Harris holds both MGMA/ACMPE and FACMPE certifications, as well as CPCO™ certification from AAPC.
Her Thursday session, "How Can I Help You? Creating an Awesome Patient Experience Every Time," will provide practical tools for training staff in customer service principles. On Friday, Harris will present a two-part program beginning with "Leadership Lessons" covering resilience, psychological safety, and employee engagement, followed by her closing keynote, "It's Lonely at the Top," focusing on professional networking and development.
Additional Session: Setting Clear Expectations for Physicians
Stu Schaff, FACMPE, FHFMA, founder of Intentionate Healthcare Advisors and an expert in medical group leadership, will lead Thursday's session on "What's My Job, Really? Setting Clear Expectations for Docs." With nearly two decades of experience partnering with over 100 healthcare organizations, Schaff will demonstrate how practices can establish and communicate clear expectations for physicians to improve accountability, morale, and engagement.
