Sioux Falls ranks number one in the nation in a key metric tied to personal happiness: the unemployment rate. People in Sioux Falls are also far more likely than those in other cities to get a good night’s sleep.

Sioux Falls had the lowest unemployment rate and the 3rd best “adequate sleep rate” among more than 180 of the largest US cities analyzed by the personal-finance website, WalletHub. The list of the happiest cities in America was released on March 20th, the International Day of Happiness.

In order to determine where people in America are most content with their lives, WalletHub compared these cities across 31 key indicators of happiness. The data set ranges from depression rate to income-growth rate to average leisure time spent per day.
