Huron Regional Medical Center Physicians Clinic Welcomes New Internal Medicine Physician

Raul Octaviani, MD, internal medicine physician, has joined the Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) medical staff, according to Erick Larson, president and CEO for HRMC.

Dr. Octaviani began practice at the HRMC Physicians Clinic on March 27 and will care for adult patients both in the clinic setting as a primary care physician and as a hospitalist, caring for inpatients. Dr. Octaviani provides individualized care with a holistic approach, carefully evaluating medications, lifestyle, diet and focusing on what is important to the patient.

The son of a physician, Dr. Octaviani was raised in both the United States and Puerto Rico and is fluent in English and Spanish.  Dr. Octaviani earned his Doctor of Medicine at Ponce School of Medicine in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He completed his internal medicine residency at Baystate Medical Center, The Western Campus of Tufts University in Bedford, Massachusetts and also completed a fellowship at the University of California Physician Leadership Academy in San Francisco, California.

Before moving to South Dakota, Dr. Octaviani practiced medicine in Massachusetts since 2007. He is enjoying getting settled in the area and caring for patients in Huron. “I really like the environment and the people,” he says, “I’m excited at the opportunity to focus on the individual patient and make those decisions on a one-to-on basis.”

Dr. Octaviani resides in the Huron area with his wife, Candice, and one-year old daughter. He enjoys Brazilian jiu-jitsu as a method of exercise and is an expert in dog training and behavior modification, specifically French ring sport. He also works with a K9 Crime Stoppers Program to train police dogs.
