Huron Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Elects Officers At Luncheon, Seeks Additional Volunteers
The Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) Auxiliary hosted their annual membership luncheon on Monday, October 24 in the HRMC Legacy Plaza Auditorium.
HRMC President and CEO, Erick Larson, opened the luncheon with a hospital update, reporting on physician recruitment, including the recent addition of Dr. Rebecca Runge, internal medicine physician, who joined the HRMC Physicians Clinic in September, Dr. David Sindler, family medicine physician, who joined HRMC in October to provide hospital medicine to patients in the hospital, as well as Dr. Julio Guerra, OB/Gyn physician who has been serving in a temporary capacity and will begin caring for the community as a permanent provider at the Physicians Clinic in January. Larson also updated the group on recent renovations and exploration of plans for future facility upgrades as well as an organizational commitment to high reliability. He thanked the volunteers for sharing their time and talent at HRMC.
Tauree Peterson, a physical therapist with HRMC Pro Rehab, then presented information on pelvic floor therapy options, including tips for bladder health.
Officers for the coming year were elected at the event, including Jackie Spillum-president, Bonnie Sheridan-membership, Judy Tschetter-treasurer and LaVonne Wipf-secretary. Pat Pomerico was elected to serve as plant caretaker and Diane Wipf as courtesy representative. Officers will be installed at the next regular Board meeting, held in November.
The Auxiliary is seeking additional volunteers to provide a friendly welcome to the hospital and provide assistance in hospital lounges, assisting visitors with hospital and patient information at the information desks and delivering floral arrangements to patients. The Auxiliary volunteers also manage and staff the hospital gift shops located in the main hospital and Central Tower lobbies, which, along with events and membership dues, support scholarships and other charitable projects.
Auxiliary volunteers are invited to the annual hospital picnic and two luncheons each year, in addition to other events. Volunteers also receive thank-you gifts from HRMC for their services.
