Huron Regional Medical Center Honors Powles As October Exceptional Employee

Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its October Exceptional Employee of the Month, Jozlynn Powles, earlier this month.

Powles, who has worked as a radiologic technologist at HRMC for just over one year, was nominated by colleagues to receive the honor. According to a nomination by one peer, “Jozlynn is always striving to learn more and become better at everything she does. From reading and researching different modalities to asking for help and opinions on how to improve after she completes an exam.” The nomination continued, “She checks into her patients’ needs before they arrive to ensure they have the best experience possible while in her care.”

Another colleague noted, “I have witnessed this young lady move to Huron with her children and just be a phenomenal employee for HRMC. There have been multiple positive patient comments mentioning her professionalism and kindness.”

HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to demonstrate the hospital’s values. Employees can be nominated by other coworkers or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees by the HRMC board of directors.

As October exceptional employee, Powles received a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, and a lapel pin.

Powles earned her Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree from Minnesota West Community and Technical College in May 2022.  In her short time at HRMC, Powles has cross-trained to DEXA (dual x-ray absorptiometry) and CT (computerized tomography) scans and recently earned her mammography certification.

“I recently certified in mammography because I really enjoy providing my patients with a good experience and I feel that mammography allows me to do that,” explained Powles. When asked why she chose radiology as a profession, Powles replied, “I knew that I wanted to work in health care. I love that radiology has so many modalities so I am allowed to keep learning and growing within the career I chose.” She continued, “I really enjoy my work environment and my team – we all help each other out.”

Powles lives in Huron with her two daughters, Seije, who is eight, and Meadow, who is four. Powles enjoys spending time with her daughters going to parks, painting and keeping them busy with activities.

Patients or visitors can nominate an exceptional employee by calling 605-353-6539 for a nomination form or via e-mail at hr@huronregional.org.
