Huron Regional Medical Center Honors Rose And Hohm

Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) president and CEO, Erick Larson, recently recognized Robert Hohm, MD, internal medicine physician, and Janna Rose, director of materials management, for their dedication and selfless approach to providing care to the community.

Rose, who has worked at HRMC over 30 years, received the third annual Ubuntu award. “The Ubuntu award recognizes a true leader in our organization who emulates our core values and recognizes their contribution is part of something bigger than just themselves,” explained Larson.

Ubuntu is a traditional African concept and comes from the Zulu and Xhola languages. Ubuntu translates to ‘I am because we are’ and ‘humanity toward others.’ “Almost every department in the hospital is directly affected by the work Janna and her department do every day. She displays the Ubuntu character in her focus on the big picture and her work to ensure the success of projects as well as day to day activities,” said Larson.

Rose, who worked as a unit secretary on the medical and emergency units and as a receiving and distribution clerk and buyer in materials management before assuming her leadership role, helped others understand the role of materials management upon receipt of the award, “We work with every department, whether it’s ordering and delivering supplies, equipment and managing service contracts.” She continued, “Every day is different and we’re up for the challenge.”

The Spirit of Caring award was presented to Robert Hohm, MD, internal medicine physician. “This annual award is given to recognize our valued clinical practitioners who take excellent care of our community. The award underscores the service our providers give every day and seeks to recognize a clinician exemplifying the work ethic, selfless, caring attitude we hope everyone will emulate in their approach to serving our patients,” explained Larson.

Hohm, an internal medicine physician, who has served patients in the community for over 42 years, gratefully accepted the award and thanked his wife, Holly, for her support, “My other half has been just as much a part of the care I’ve delivered over the years and I could not have done it without her.”

“The Spirit of Caring recipient is intended to be someone who is willing to make sacrifices in order to do what is necessary for the good of our patients,” said Larson. “Dr. Hohm has shown that caring spirit over and over again, with patients, and most recently with his passion and determination surrounding the expansion of dialysis to serve our community.”
