Gastroenterologist Dr. Douglas Renton Joins Essentia Health-Mid Dakota Bismarck 9th Street Clinic

The Essentia Health-Mid Dakota Bismarck 9th Street Clinic is excited to welcome gastroenterologist Dr. Douglas Renton.

“I have had digestive issues of my own, so I wanted to provide high-quality care within my field,” said Dr. Renton, a Bismarck native and the oldest of 11 children.

Dr. Renton earned his medical degree from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. He completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Dr. Renton is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

“I am particularly interested in the management of patients with inflammatory bowel disease,” explained Dr. Renton. “I believe in shared medical decision-making where the patient and I discuss all of their options and determine together what is right for their particular situation.”
