Fischer and Luchsinger Appointed to Columbus Community Hospital Foundation Board of Directors

The Columbus Community Hospital Foundation welcomes Sandie Fischer and Cody Luchsinger to its board of directors beginning May 1, 2026.

“The support and enthusiasm of our foundation board are vital for the hospital’s trajectory,” said Michael T. Hansen, president and CEO of Columbus Community Hospital. “Our patients and families are directly impacted by their contribution of time and talent.”

Now retired, Sandie Fischer joins the board after working for 21 years at KLIR 101 radio station in Columbus, Nebraska. She spent a few years as an account sales representative and 19 years as a member of the Morning Buzz show with Lu and Sandie. Since 2001, she has been an integral part of the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce.

Fischer has been involved in a number of organizations: American Cancer Society as both a chairperson and Relay for Life committee member, American Red Cross, Miss Columbus Scholarship Pageant, Columbus Women’s Division, Columbus Area Arts Council, Scotus Mothers, Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE), Tomorrow’s Talkers Toastmaster Club, Tune Up for Life, and the advisory council for Golden Living Center Columbus. She received the Charles E. Farnam Volunteer of the Year award in 1995 and was named Columbus Days Queen Isabella in 2001.

Fischer continues to give back to her community as part of the Columbus Noon Lions Club, Platte County Food Pantry (she serves as secretary), Platte County Master Gardeners, Platte County Playhouse, Platte Auxiliary #1834 Fraternal Order of the Eagles, St. Bonaventure Ladies of the Lord and Catholic Daughters of America.

She said she’s looking forward to working with an outstanding foundation that has done so much for Columbus Community Hospital and the community.

“I hope to bring to the foundation the knowledge I have gained working and volunteering with numerous organizations, and during my career at the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce for over 24 years,” Fischer said.

Cody Luchsinger is a lifelong Columbus resident and business professional with a strong commitment to supporting local organizations and advancing health care in the community. He currently serves as a sales representative with Eakes Office Solutions in Columbus, where he works closely with organizations to deliver effective workplace solutions. In addition to his full-time role, Luchsinger is a co-owner of Tropical Smoothie Café in Columbus. He also serves as a part-time auctioneer with Buss Realty & Auction, LLC, further demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit and strong ties to the local business community.

Luchsinger brings valuable governance and nonprofit experience, having recently completed six years of service as a trustee on the Cornhusker Public Power District Goodwill Board. He is actively involved at the state level as a member of the Nebraska Future Business Leaders of America Advisory Council, and locally as a commodore with the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce. Through his professional and volunteer involvement, Luchsinger has developed a strong appreciation for collaboration, strategic planning and community-focused leadership.

Joining the foundation’s board of directors was a natural choice for him, he said.

“I strongly believe in giving back, and both family and community are a big part of who I am,” he said. “Supporting something as important as local health care felt like a great way to make a difference.”

Jerod Trouba, CCH Founation board chair, believes the strength of the foundation is tied directly to the strength and leadership of its board members.

“Sandie and Cody ensure continued strong leadership within the board of directors,” Trouba said.

Cori Fullner, executive director of the CCH Foundation, agrees with Trouba that Fischer and Luchsinger will be outstanding additions the CCH Foundation board of directors.

“We are very fortunate to have Sandie and Cody joining the CCH Foundation board of directors,” Fullner said. “Their strengths and knowledge will wonderfully enhance our committed, dynamic group of individuals we currently have as board members.”
