Essentia Health Launches Cardiometabolic Clinic
Aiming to more effectively connect with and treat patients who have high risk of cardiovascular disease, Essentia Health-Fargo is excited to launch a cardiometabolic clinic.
Amid increasing prevalence of cardiovascular disease, Type 2 Diabetes, obesity and high cholesterol, cardiometabolic clinics have emerged as an effective treatment strategy. Specialists collaborate and provide comprehensive, preventive care to improve patient outcomes. They work with each patient to create a tailored treatment plan that focuses on maintaining a healthier lifestyle and improving risk factors to prevent heart and vascular disease.
Cardiologist Dr. Lola Oluleye will oversee the clinic at Essentia Health-Fargo.
“Reducing modifiable risk factors plays a vital role in the management of cardiovascular diseases and leads to increased life expectancy,” said Dr. Lola Oluleye, a cardiologist at Essentia Health-Fargo. “This can be achieved with lifestyle changes and medications that have been shown to have significant cardiovascular benefits, and these components are part of any tailored treatment plan at our cardiometabolic clinic.”
About 40% of Essentia’s adult patients with diabetes have cardiovascular and other risk factors. The clinic will strive to help these patients along with those who are discharged from hospitals after cardiovascular events or have a history of heart failure and/or other risk factors.
Early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent the onset and progression of cardiovascular disease.
Services at the cardiometabolic clinic include doctor and specialist consultation; lab testing; nutrition counseling; 2D echocardiography; electrocardiogram; stress test; and CT coronary scan.
