Essentia Health-Fargo Welcomes Dr. Alberto Cabo Chan, An Endocrinologist

Essentia Health-Fargo is pleased to welcome Dr. Alberto Cabo Chan, an endocrinologist who worked previously at Essentia for nine years.

“After being away working in the academic setting, I learned to appreciate the difference practicing in the community has to offer, and I knew working with Essentia would provide that,” Dr. Cabo Chan said.

Dr. Cabo Chan received his medical education from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines. He completed residencies at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio, and Mercy Hospital and Medical Center of Chicago, as well as a fellowship in endocrinology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He is certified in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

“A family history of diabetes was what got me interested in endocrinology,” Dr. Cabo Chan said. “As I progressed in my career, with a background in laboratory medicine, my interest grew further, particularly in the areas of insulin resistance, mineral metabolism, bone disorders and kidney stones.”
