Essentia Health-Fargo To Offer Tours Of Recently Remodeled Birthing Center

A mother of two, Kendall Bonkowski was nervous to deliver her third child.

“Having a history of anxiety and some depression, and being older, it felt like I was starting all over again,” admitted Bonkowski, who delivered her second child 10 years prior.

However, entering the birthing center at Essentia Health-Fargo soothed some of her apprehension. Bonkowski recalls having a really good experience, from getting checked in to setting up in a private suite.

“The room was pristine and calming and helped keep my anxiety low,” she added.

Bonkowski had a scheduled induction with Dr. Jared Sander, who had been her provider throughout the pregnancy. Dr. Sander followed her every step of the way.

“He was just amazing at keeping me calm and reassuring me that we were going to get through everything, and get through it together,” said Bonkowski. “I appreciated that.”

Bonkowski experienced some blood pressure spikes and an umbilical cord issue during the delivery of her daughter in March, but she credits the work of Dr. Sander and his team for delivering Armonee “with ease and without missing a beat.”

“They were on it,” Bonkowski said. “Whether my blood pressure was jumping or dropping, they were just on it and knew what to do. Everybody just seemed like they were in sync with each other and with Dr. Sander.

“He knew what he was doing and he’s very good at what he does. I’m just impressed with his medical knowledge, and he’s so personable. He did a really great job.”
