Erica DeBoer to Speak at National Nursing Roundtable

Erica DeBoer, chief nursing officer at Sanford Health, has been invited to join a national roundtable featuring a diverse group of nursing and informatics thought leaders who will discuss how they are harnessing technology to build a more resilient and sustainable workforce.

DeBoer is one of three speakers at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems (HIMSS) Nursing Informatics Community Roundtable, which will be moderated by the Chief Nursing Information Officer at Microsoft and includes nursing leaders from Penn Medicine and HCA.

“I am grateful to have the opportunity to demonstrate our unique expertise, innovation, clinical excellence and impact in rural health care on a national stage,” said DeBoer. “Sanford continues to leverage technology to improve patient care and empower our nurses to do their most fulfilling work. This event gives our organization an incredible platform to learn from others and share how we are shaping the future of health care delivery in rural America.”

In 2021, Sanford Health announced a landmark Virtual Care Initiative to transform health care for populations in rural and underserved areas through the expansion of services in the places we call home. The Sanford Virtual Care Center will serve as the premier training ground to attract, retain and prepare the next generation of clinicians. Sanford also recently launched a new data-driven approach to managing clinical workforce scheduling and staffing for its more than 10,000 nurses.

DeBoer will focus her discussion on how the health care workforce crisis has become a catalyst for responsive problem solving, the adoption of innovative technology and the development of new care delivery models that aim to improve the patient experience and support our workforce now and in the future.
