Denise Marshall, Athletic Trainer At Columbus Community Hospital, Earns Athletic Training Award

Columbus Community Hospital proudly announces that Denise Marshall, athletic trainer at Columbus Community Hospital, earned the Head Athletic Trainer of the Year at a two-year institution by the NATA Intercollegiate Council for Sports Medicine for her role at Columbus Community College – Platte Campus.

Each year the Intercollegiate Council for Sports Medicine recognizes one individual for exceptional performance as a head athletic trainer in the following collegiate divisions: NCAA D1, NCAA D2, NCAA D3, NAIA, Two Year Institution, and Club/Intramural/Recreational Sports. Award recipients actively participate in their community, campus, athletic training associations, and professional promotion.

“Denise is committed to her athletes and her profession, but what sets her apart is the compassion, kindness, concern and humor she provides daily to everyone she serves,” said Mary Young, athletic director at CCC. “Without a doubt, she enhances the entire Central experience for each of our athletes, and we are blessed to have her in our Raider family.”

Marshall’s role at CCC is to help athletes during an injury and may be struggling to return to play. According to Young, Marshall can connect with athletes and push them outside their comfort zone in a fun, beneficial way to recover, and makes them want to return for the next session.

“Marshall is very deserving of this award,” said Rob Marshall, athletic training program director. “She provides highly-skilled athletic training services to these athletes while supporting their recovery. She has built positive relationships with the athletes and earned their trust. She is a valuable member of our team.”
