Community Unites for a Successful Yellow Rose Week

The Prairie Lakes Healthcare Foundation extends a heartfelt  thank you to everyone who supported Yellow Rose Week, held June 2–6, 2025, in honor of the  Suzanne Jacobson Memorial Fund (SJMF).

Yellow Rose Week is the primary fundraising effort for Prairie Lakes Healthcare Foundation’s SJMF.  The event helps raise critical funds to provide financial support to individuals in our region who are  facing life-threatening illnesses and struggling with the costs that accompany a medical crisis.

SJMF grants assist with everyday expenses such as medical bills, medication, travel related to  treatment, groceries, utilities, or rent. Since its inception in 1999, the fund has awarded 942 grants  totaling over $589,000 to individuals in need across northeastern South Dakota.

This year, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the SJMF Committee, Buck and Deb Jacobson,  Prairie Lakes Healthcare Foundation and System Board members, exceptional staff, and outstanding  volunteers from Watertown, Milbank, Kranzburg, South Shore, and Waverly, more than $46,000 was  raised through many generous donations, raffle ticket sales, and the sale of yellow roses, decals, and  yard signs. Every dollar raised will go directly toward helping individuals in need.

We are deeply grateful to the many businesses and individuals in Watertown and surrounding  communities for their generosity, time, and support. Your involvement makes this mission possible,  thank you!

The Suzanne Jacobson Memorial Fund was established by Suzanne’s family and friends to continue  her legacy of compassion and care. Suzanne served our region as a dedicated physician assistant  until her passing in 1998. The fund carries forward her spirit of service by helping others in their time  of need.

The SJMF accepts donations year-round. To learn more or to make a contribution, please visit  www.prairielakes.com/foundation or call the Prairie Lakes Healthcare Foundation at 605-882-7631.
