CNOS Sports Medicine’s Team Approach Offering Fall Sports Injury Screenings And Concussion Clinic

It’s the time of year when school sports are in full swing. Area athletes can be treated and recover from a potential injury with free sports injury screenings and a concussion clinic offered at CNOS’s Dakota Dunes location ONLY.

“With the start of the new school year and the kickoff to fall activities, please know that CNOS is here for all sports injuries,” said Reggie Miller, Team Lead Athletic Trainer. “If you are out on the field for a Friday night game and suffer an injury, the opportunity to be seen the next morning is key and receiving quick and effective care by one of our trainers is something we pride ourselves in.”

Free sports injury screenings are offered all year round, Monday-Friday 7 – 9:30 am at the Dakota Dunes, Morningside, and Northside locations with the addition of Saturday mornings, 7 – 9:30 am through October 21 at the CNOS Dakota Dunes Clinic location, 575 Sioux Point Road. This includes an evaluation from an athletic trainer at no cost. If you are referred to an orthopaedic physician or require additional imaging or other services, please note your insurance will be billed.

Athletes may also sustain a concussion. CNOS offers an interdisciplinary approach to the treatment of concussions to ensure each athlete receives timely care and can safely return to their activities. The screenings are part of CNOS’s Concussion Clinic and the company’s overall dedication to assessing any health challenge an athlete may be facing.

“Our concussion clinic is a great asset to the athletes in the Siouxland area. If concussions are not treated appropriately, this can have detrimental effects to the athlete”, said Amanda Lauer, Physical Therapist and CNOS Concussion Specialist.

CNOS has a new system, COBALT (Concussion Balance Test) that utilizes a force plate to perform baseline assessments and can also be used to determine an athlete’s readiness to return to sport. The Concussion Clinic is offered Monday-Friday, 7:00am – 9:00am at the Dakota Dunes Clinic location.
