CHI Health St. Francis Emergency Department Named ENA’s Top in the State

CHI Health St. Francis is proud to announce that its Emergency Department (ED) has been awarded the Emergency Nurse Association (ENA) Lantern Award. The honor recognizes EDs demonstrating exceptional leadership, practice, education and advocacy, resulting in outstanding patient care and staff well-being.

July 23, the ENA recognized 96 emergency departments worldwide for excellence in practice, collaboration and innovation. St. Francis was the only provider in Nebraska to receive this award.

“Receiving the ENA Lantern Award is a huge honor for us! It highlights the incredible work and skill of our ED team,” says Amelia Swanson, ED Director. “We are all committed to providing each patient with the best possible care and ensuring safe patient outcomes. This is something we're very proud of and this recognition also helps us attract and retain the best employees.”

As part of the application process, St. Francis shared stories highlighting its commitment to care and initiatives to foster employee engagement while also providing data to reflect high-quality outcomes. Applications are reviewed and scored by the ENA Lantern Award Committee.

St. Francis serves as the region’s only Level III Trauma Center with Neurosurgery, Primary Stroke Center and Pediatric Ready Hospital. In 2023, a significant $13 million renovation expanded the ED to a new 26-bed unit, incorporating the latest technology, enhanced security measures and advanced infection prevention features.
